These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Expat Legal Buddy application, website, platform, and related services (collectively, the “Platform” or “Services”).

By creating an account, accessing, or using the Platform, you agree to be legally bound by these Terms.

If you do not agree with these Terms, you must not access or use the Platform.

1. DEFINITIONS

For the purposes of these Terms:

“Expat Legal Buddy”, “we”, “us”, or “our” means Expat Legal Buddy Co Ltd, the operator of the Platform.

“User”, “you”, or “your” means any person who accesses or uses the Platform.

“Lawyer” means a lawyer or legal professional who provides or offers legal services through or in connection with the Platform.

“Service Provider” means a lawyer, translator, consultant, interpreter, administrative service provider, or other professional who provides services through or in connection with the Platform.

“Client” means a User who requests or receives legal or related services.

“Content” means text, documents, images, audio, video, messages, information, files, and other materials submitted, uploaded, generated, or displayed through the Platform.

“User Content” means Content submitted or uploaded by a User.

2. ELIGIBILITY

You may use the Platform only if:

You have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms; and
Your use of the Platform is lawful under the laws applicable to you.

If you are under the age of legal capacity applicable to your circumstances, you must use the Platform only with the involvement and consent of your parent, legal guardian, or other person authorized by applicable law.

Certain Services may have additional eligibility requirements.

3. ACCOUNT REGISTRATION

Certain functions of the Platform may require you to create an account.

You agree to:

Provide accurate and current information;
Keep your account information updated;
Keep your login credentials confidential;
Not allow unauthorized persons to use your account;
Notify us promptly of unauthorized access; and
Be responsible for activity conducted through your account, except where caused by circumstances for which you are not legally responsible.

We may require identity verification where reasonably necessary, particularly for legal, financial, immigration, criminal, or other sensitive matters.

4. USE OF THE PLATFORM

The Platform may allow Users to:

Submit legal inquiries;
Request legal assistance;
Communicate with Lawyers and Service Providers;
Schedule consultations;
Upload documents;
Receive legal information;
Obtain translation or administrative assistance;
Make payments;
Track requests or matters; and
Access other features made available from time to time.

The specific Services available may vary depending on location, availability, language, legal requirements, and other circumstances.

5. EXPAT LEGAL BUDDY AS A PLATFORM

Expat Legal Buddy provides technology and platform services that may facilitate access to Lawyers and Service Providers.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, Expat Legal Buddy does not itself provide legal advice merely by operating the Platform.

A Lawyer or Service Provider may operate independently from Expat Legal Buddy.

Use of the Platform does not automatically create an attorney-client relationship.

Any legal engagement between a Client and Lawyer may be governed by a separate engagement agreement.

6. LAWYER AND SERVICE PROVIDER SERVICES

Lawyers and Service Providers may determine independently:

Whether to accept a matter;
Whether a conflict of interest exists;
The scope of services;
The applicable professional requirements;
The fees;
The strategy or approach to a matter; and
Whether they can continue providing services.

Expat Legal Buddy does not guarantee that a Lawyer or Service Provider will accept your request or remain available throughout your matter.

7. LEGAL INFORMATION

Information available through the Platform may be provided for general informational purposes.

Such information does not necessarily constitute legal advice.

Laws and procedures may differ depending on the facts, location, nationality, legal status, procedural stage, and other circumstances.

You should obtain individualized advice from a qualified Lawyer where necessary.

8. AI AND AUTOMATED FEATURES

The Platform may use AI or automated technologies to provide certain functions, including:

Information search;
Translation;
Document analysis;
Document summarization;
Question answering;
Categorization;
Initial issue identification; or
Other automated assistance.

AI-generated output may contain errors or omissions.

You are responsible for verifying important information before relying on it.

AI-generated information does not replace advice from a qualified Lawyer.

9. USER CONTENT

You retain ownership of User Content that you lawfully own.

By submitting User Content to the Platform, you grant Expat Legal Buddy a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, transmit, and display that User Content only as reasonably necessary to:

Provide the Services;
Operate the Platform;
Facilitate communication with Lawyers or Service Providers;
Maintain security;
Comply with legal obligations; and
Perform functions requested by you.

We will handle personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

10. USER RESPONSIBILITY FOR CONTENT

You represent that:

You have the right to provide the Content;
The Content is not knowingly false or misleading;
The Content does not unlawfully infringe another person's rights;
You have the necessary authorization to provide documents belonging to another person or organization where required; and
Your submission of the Content does not violate applicable law.

You should not upload information that you are legally prohibited from disclosing.

11. CONFIDENTIALITY

Expat Legal Buddy will handle personal data in accordance with its Privacy Policy.

However, Users should understand that electronic communications may not be completely secure.

Where confidentiality or legal professional privilege is required, the relevant Client and Lawyer should establish the applicable professional relationship and confidentiality arrangements.

12. FEES AND PAYMENTS

Certain Services may require payment.

Fees may include:

Consultation fees;
Legal service fees;
Translation fees;
Administrative service fees;
Subscription fees;
Platform fees;
Deposits; or
Other applicable charges.

Before a paid service is provided, the applicable fee may be displayed or communicated to you.

Where a Lawyer or Service Provider independently determines their professional fee, that fee may be subject to a separate agreement.

13. SUBSCRIPTIONS

Where subscription services are offered:

The applicable subscription period and price will be disclosed before purchase;
Subscription benefits may vary by plan;
Subscription fees may be charged according to the selected billing cycle;
Users may cancel future renewal according to the applicable cancellation procedure; and
Cancellation does not necessarily entitle the User to a refund for a period already used, except where required by law or stated otherwise.

Additional subscription terms may apply to specific plans.

14. REFUNDS AND CANCELLATIONS

Refunds and cancellations will be handled according to the applicable service terms displayed at the time of purchase.

Where a Lawyer or Service Provider has already performed work, any refund may be subject to the terms of the relevant engagement.

Nothing in these Terms excludes mandatory refund or consumer rights under applicable law.

15. EMERGENCY SERVICES

Expat Legal Buddy may provide or facilitate urgent legal assistance where available.

However, the Platform is not an emergency response service.

In an immediate emergency involving danger to life, serious injury, or an urgent threat, contact the appropriate emergency authority directly.

Availability of urgent legal assistance is subject to the availability of Lawyers and Service Providers.

16. PROHIBITED USE

You must not use the Platform to:

Commit or facilitate illegal activity;
Provide deliberately false information;
Impersonate another person;
Defraud or deceive another person;
Upload malicious software;
Attempt unauthorized access;
Interfere with the Platform;
Harass or threaten Lawyers, Service Providers, staff, or Users;
Scrape or systematically collect Platform data without authorization;
Reverse engineer the Platform except where permitted by law;
Circumvent security measures;
Use the Platform to distribute unlawful or harmful material; or
Use the Platform in violation of applicable law.

17. COMMUNICATIONS

The Platform may provide communication functions between Users, Lawyers, Service Providers, and Expat Legal Buddy.

Users must communicate respectfully and lawfully.

Expat Legal Buddy may take reasonable measures concerning communications that violate these Terms or applicable law.

Where legally permitted and necessary for security, dispute resolution, service operation, or compliance, communications may be reviewed or processed in accordance with the Privacy Policy and applicable law.

18. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

The Platform may integrate with or provide access to third-party services.

Examples may include:

Payment providers;
Cloud services;
Communication platforms;
Translation services;
Mapping services;
Identity verification providers; and
Other technology providers.

Third-party services may have separate terms and privacy policies.

Expat Legal Buddy is not responsible for third-party services to the extent permitted by law.

19. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

The Platform and its content, excluding User Content and third-party materials, may be owned by or licensed to Expat Legal Buddy.

This includes:

Software;
Code;
Platform design;
Logos;
Trademarks;
Graphics;
Text;
Databases;
User interfaces;
Images;
Videos; and
Other proprietary materials.

You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Platform for its intended purpose.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, license, or commercially exploit Platform materials without authorization.

20. FEEDBACK

If you provide suggestions, ideas, comments, or feedback concerning the Platform, you agree that Expat Legal Buddy may use such feedback without compensation or obligation to you, provided that such use does not unlawfully disclose your personal data or confidential information.

21. PLATFORM AVAILABILITY

We aim to keep the Platform available and functional but do not guarantee uninterrupted access.

The Platform may occasionally be unavailable because of:

Maintenance;
Technical problems;
Software updates;
Security incidents;
Network failures;
Third-party service failures; or
Circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features of the Platform where reasonably necessary.

22. NO GUARANTEE OF LEGAL OUTCOME

Expat Legal Buddy does not guarantee any particular outcome in connection with legal or administrative matters.

No result is guaranteed in relation to:

Court cases;
Police matters;
Criminal cases;
Civil disputes;
Immigration applications;
Visa applications;
Work permits;
Government applications;
Bail applications;
Arbitration;
Negotiations; or
Other legal proceedings.

23. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Platform and its general information are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

Expat Legal Buddy does not guarantee that:

The Platform will always be available;
Information will always be accurate or current;
The Platform will be error-free;
The Platform will meet every User's requirements; or
Defects will always be corrected immediately.

Mandatory warranties or protections that cannot legally be excluded remain unaffected.

24. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Expat Legal Buddy shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or similar losses arising from:

Use of general legal information;
Reliance on AI-generated information;
Decisions made by Users;
Acts or omissions of independent Lawyers or Service Providers;
Decisions of courts or government authorities;
Third-party services;
Inaccurate information provided by Users;
Technical failures; or
Events beyond our reasonable control.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

25. INDEMNIFICATION

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Expat Legal Buddy and its directors, officers, employees, and representatives from claims, losses, liabilities, costs, and reasonable expenses arising from:

Your violation of these Terms;
Your unlawful use of the Platform;
Your User Content;
Your violation of another person's rights; or
Your fraudulent or intentionally wrongful conduct.

This section does not apply to the extent that the relevant loss was caused by Expat Legal Buddy's own unlawful conduct or liability that cannot legally be transferred to you.

26. SUSPENSION AND TERMINATION

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform if:

You materially breach these Terms;
You engage in unlawful activity;
You create a security risk;
You misuse the Platform;
Your account is involved in fraud or abuse; or
Suspension is reasonably necessary to protect Users, Lawyers, Service Providers, or the Platform.

You may stop using the Platform at any time.

Termination does not automatically eliminate obligations that arose before termination.

27. EFFECT OF TERMINATION

After termination:

Your right to access the Platform may cease;
Certain information may continue to be retained where required by law or legitimate business purposes;
Outstanding payment obligations remain payable; and
Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply.

28. PRIVACY

Your use of the Platform is also governed by the Expat Legal Buddy Privacy Policy.

The Privacy Policy explains how personal data is collected, used, disclosed, stored, and protected.

29. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS

Expat Legal Buddy may update these Terms from time to time.

Changes may be made because of:

New Services;
Changes in technology;
Changes in applicable law;
Changes in business operations; or
Other legitimate business reasons.

Where required by law, we will provide appropriate notice of material changes.

The updated version will state the applicable Last Updated date.

30. GOVERNING LAW

Unless otherwise required by applicable law or agreed in a separate written agreement, these Terms are governed by the laws of Thailand.

Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or use of the Platform shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Thailand, subject to any mandatory legal rights or applicable jurisdictional requirements.

31. SEVERABILITY

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.

The invalid provision will be interpreted or modified to the extent necessary to make it enforceable where legally permitted.

32. NO WAIVER

Failure by Expat Legal Buddy to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of our right to enforce that provision later.

33. ENTIRE AGREEMENT

These Terms, together with the following documents, constitute the applicable terms governing your use of the Platform:

Expat Legal Buddy Privacy Policy;
Expat Legal Buddy Legal Disclaimer;
Applicable Service Terms;
Subscription Terms, where applicable;
Lawyer or Professional Engagement Agreement, where applicable; and
Any additional terms expressly presented to you for a particular Service.

Where a separate written agreement specifically governs a professional legal engagement, that agreement will govern the relevant professional relationship to the extent of any inconsistency.
